In Greek mythology, Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty and sexual rapture. According to Hesiod, she was born when Uranus (the father of the gods) was castrated by his son Cronus. Cronus threw the severed genitals into the ocean which began to churn and foam about them. From the aphros ("sea foam") arose Aphrodite, and the sea carried her to either Cyprus or Cythera. Hence she is often referred to as Kypris and Cytherea. Homer calls her a daughter of Zeus and Dione.

Here at Illusions-Designs we pride ourselves in creating the most beautiful Poser characters on the internet.  Now we’re giving you a chance to show us who is your modern day Aphrodite.  What does your Goddess of Love, Beauty and Sexual Rapture look like? You may create her any way you wish.  Show us your renders, using any character; ours or any others.  You may also submit your entries in the form of photographs* paintings or renders made in any software program you choose. Post work at any level is allowed.  We don’t care how you create her—just have fun and show us what your version of true beauty really is!

DATES

Contest will begin on Wednesday, February 22^nd 2006 with entries closing at Midnight, Eastern Time (US) on Thrusday, March 2^nd, 2006. Entries submitted after that time will not be considered and will be returned.

CONTEST RULES

1. Theme is “The Aphrodite Contest”

2. Maximum of 3 (three) entries per person

3. Must be a new image; not previously posted as a contest entry or for public viewing on any website.

4. All entries must contain the full name and e-mail address of the participants as well as the title of their entry/entries.

5. Image must bear no identification, watermark or logo for the purposes of this contest.

6. File sizes: Any size, any compression, jpeg format only. Please make a thumbnail 160x160 pixels.

7. Entries can be submitted by via e-mail to: The Aphrodite Contest 

8. By submitting entry you are authorizing Illusions-Designs to post the winning images in its website and/or use it for the purpose of promoting this, or future contests.

1. Winners will be determined by votes by rest of the participants or any one else that wishes to vote on the entries. We will put up a voting button on the on the pages as soon as the entries are over.
2. Each contestant/voter will be allowed 3 votes – 1 each for first, second and third prize.
3. You will not be allowed to vote for your own image. If you vote for your own image we will hit you over the head with a frozen carrot and make you wear a burka for the next 10 years.
4. The voting will begin at 12:01 Eastern Time (US) on Friday, March 3rd, 2006 and will be accepted until Midnight Eastern Time (US) on Sunday, March 5th.  Votes entered after this time will be void.  The votes will be tallied by the management of Illusions Designs and all results will be final.   The winners will be announced the evening of Monday, March 6th and will be posted to this page.  Winners will also be notified via email.
